My City

Yentha readers are our eyes and ears. Send in pictures, stories and facts about the city and we will publish them.

Turn to any road in Trivandrum and 9 out of 10 times, you will find yourself standing face to face with a pile of garbage at some corner in the road. But chances are you may take little notice of it if you have lived here all your life. Not an unusual sight, that. What might get your attention would be a clean and tidy street.

discarded tv yentha

But here is a sight not so common. Someone has thrown away a whole television-set out on the roads. It lies in an ignored corner of the road with its head turned upside down. No, it is not just a covering as one might assume. The whole TV is there, maybe with a few parts missing. But nothing you can't find at a repair shop. And yet someone has decided it is not worthy enough to be kept indoors. Well well, Trivandrum might be getting a little rich here. For not only has someone abandoned a whole television set, but no one else has bothered to take it for themselves. Not even one of those burglars we hear are going about houses, risking it all. They don't want the TV either.

It seems Trivandrum has grown so rich in its garbage that the city now has costly gadgets lying around with anyone taking notice of it. It is most likely the TV will remain there for a good many days ahead, until a corporation worker, feeling pity for the black box, decides to send it to Vilappilsala with the rest of the junk from the city.
