Statue And Memorial Park For MN Govindan Nair
Pattom, Trivandrum: Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan along with minister for Law, Public Works, Sports and Parliamentary Affairs M Vijayakumar, and minister for Forests and Housing Binoy Viswam, today laid the foundation stone for the statue and memorial park for MN Govindan Nair, one of the foremost leaders of the Communist Party of India in Kerala.
MN Govindan Nair was the secretary for CPI in Kerala. In 1964 when the Communist Party split into CPI and CPI(M) he remained in the Communist Party of India (CPI) He was a member of parliament and served as a minister of Kerala. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative assembly in the general elections of 1967. He undertook portfolios like minister for Agriculture, Transport, Eectricity and Housing.
