Trivandrum: Red FM, city’s leading FM radio station, launched its Agro and Food Fest 2018 at the Putharikandam Maidanam earlier this week. The fest was officially inaugurated by actor and MP Suresh Gopi. This fest is supported by the Centre for Innovation in Science & Social Action (CISSA).

One of the highlights of this unique fest is an exhibition of iconic elements of Kerala’s cultural heritage. According to a press note, the general public would also get to see majestic waterfalls and serene village landscapes recreated here. One could even cross bridges across ponds with rich aqua life, according to the release.

The organizers add that the festival has a section for home grown fruits and everything that could be made out of it. Apart from this there is a food stall that offers snacks made out of jack fruit, straight from the fields raw and untreated. Apparently, a section of the fest even houses some rare goat species from across the country.

For the kids enjoying their summer holidays, there is a dedicated play area that will keep them busy. To ring in pangs of nostalgia, a vast space has been allocated to display traditional agricultural tools to, day to day ‘appliances’ of yesteryear that one may hope to find in a typical Kerala kitchen a few hundred years back.

The fest promises a lot and the kids are bound to enjoy. It ends on May 20.
