Trivandrum: The state Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in association with the Kudumbashree Mission will launch 'e-Seva Kendras' on February 1 in 72 RTOs/JRTOs. The e-Seva Kendras, to be manned by Kudumbasree volunteers, will function from the premises of 17 Regional Transport Offices (RTO) and 55 Joint RTOs. The applications submitted will be accorded top priority after the ones received through fast-track counters. The e-Seva Kendras will help public who are in submitting applications and complaints, pay fee and taxes, etc. online to the department. Authorities said the initiative is also aimed at keeping away middlemen and agents who collect huge amounts as 'service charge' from the computer illiterate applicants. Two to three Kudumbashree Mission volunteers will be appointed on temporary basis and their salary will be borne by the department. The department has already issued the standard operating procedures (SOP) to all the regional and sub-regional transport offices (RTOs/SRTOs). |
It will be the responsibility of respective RTOs and JRTOs to ensure the
smooth functioning of the Kendras. A 150-sq-ft space will be earmarked
for the e-Kendra adjacent the RTO/SRTO. Two computer systems, printer, scanner, photo-copier, fax machine and internet connectivity have to be provided by the department to the Kudumbashree volunteers. The e-Kendra will function between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and agents and brokers will be not entertained at the Kendras. The volunteers at the Kendras can download, fill, collate and submit the applications on request. |
