Ommasery Madhavan Award For Sree Ram

Trivandrum: Dr. Sree Ram Venkitta Raman (Director, Employment & Training and former sub collector of Devikulam) has been selected for the Ommaseery Madhavan award this year. This was announced by jury member J Soman, President Ommaseery Madhavan Smaraka Charitable Trust at a press conference earlier today.
As the former sub collector of Devikulam, Sree Ram was instrumental in issueing birth certifiactes for 2500 Adhivasi children. This was a need that was unaddressed for a long time. This need was fulfilled thanks to the unwavering support given by Dr. Raman said Soman during a press interaction.
Sree Ram will be presented with a cash award of Rs.25,000 and Prasasthi Pathram at a ceremony to be conducted at the Fourth Estate Hall Press club on Dec 27, 2017. The award will be given by V S Achuthanandan, Chairman Kerala Administrative Commission Reforms.

If you recall, Sree Ram Venkita Raman took action against encroachers and the land mafia in Munnar. And his anti-encroachment drive was well-appreciated by the locals as well as the media. His movement against land encroachers is considered a great charitable activity, recalled jury members at the function.
Ommasery Madavan was a former Communist party leader and Sree Ram Venkitta Raman is the fifth winner of the the Ommasery Madavan award. Previous winners include Jwala Foundation leader Aswathy Nair, Snake catcher Vava Suresh, Gandhi Bhavan secretary Dr. Punalur Somarajan among others.
