Trivandrum: The works inside Attakulangara school is more or less over. The one in front of Sree Padmanabha temple is being completed and will be over in a few days. Infact, officials guarantee that works at entire East Fort area will be cleared by December 10.

"Work is going on at Attakulangara, in front of Ramachandran Textiles," said an official at Chief Secretary's office. "We are in the process to connect the drain from Padmavilasam Road to the one leading to Attakulangara road. Once we do that, there will be no more waterlogging problem at Pazhavangadi. We will clear works at East Fort area by December 10."

When there was a rainfall of 7cm during April this year, waterlogging was so acute that trains needed to be cancelled.

A few weeks before, city received 9cm rainfall in one day and nothing came to stand still, proof that Operation Anantha has already started yielding results.

"The biggest hurdle that remains is the work at Ruby Nagar. The road is too narrow and we can't park our cement trucks over there, because traffic will come to stand still. Finshing work at Ruby Nagar will take some time, but we will keep our word and the entire work will be over by December 31, and when it is done, waterlogging will be a thing of the past," said the official.

The Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce (TCCI) had recently congratulated the efforts of the government and the Chief Secretary in addressing the flood mitigation steps through Operation Anantha in a time bound manner. While every project have their naysayers, Operation Anantha is turning out to be one of the few that proved naysayers wrong for
once.
