Poetry Fest In City Soon

Trivandrum: A three day long International Poetry Festival, Kritya 2017, will be officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the Bharat Bhavan on Thursday, November 9.

French poet Marc Delouze will open the festival by reciting his poem the previous day at 6 p.m. at the same venue. 

'Racism and Xenophobia' will be the main theme for the poetry festival, which will be conducted in various venues in the city including the State Public Library, University College, and SN College in Chempazhanthy. 

A poetry therapy for jail inmates will be organized as part of the festival.The therapy 'Poetry for freedom of soul', will be led by poets V Madhusudhanan Nair and Prabha Varma along with international poets like Ataol Behramoglu from Turkey and Nolwazi Mkhathini from South Africa at the Central jail in Poojappura.
As many as 24 internationally acclaimed poets from other countries and indigenous poets from India will take part in the festival.

A literary fest 'Books at the beach' will be held at Kovalam as part of the fest on November 10. The literary fest will conclude with a function to be held at the Kayikkara Aashan Memorial on November 11.
