The Uroos Festival Begins At Beemapally
The Uroos festival is conducted annually in the memory of Sayyidathunnisa Beema Beevi and her son Ashaikhu Sayed Shaheed Maheen Aboobakar | Yentha

Trivandrum : Tuesday marked the beginning of the ‘uroos’ festival at Beemapally dargah. Morning special prayers were led by Abdul Khadar Anvari. A procession was taken out from the mosque to Jonakapoonthura and Manikyavilakam. It was followed by an all-religion prayer led by chief imam Hasan Ashrafi Falil Albakhafi. The hoisting of the customary flag was done by the president of Muslim Jama’at P M Yusuf Haji.


For the next 10 days Beemapally will have programs starting from 9 Am which include Religious discussions led by scholars, cultural programmes and prayer meetings. Many prominent religious and political leaders are expected to be present.


The state government has made ample traffic and security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the festival. The food safety wing has deployed special squads to ensure the quality of food sold during the festivities. Special bus services will be arranged from various KSRTC bus depots across the district for the easy commutation of believers towards Beemapally.


A holiday was declared for schools and offices in the Corporation limits on Tuesday in connection with the festival.
