|Trivandrum: Dr. K T Jaleel, Minister for Local Self Government & Minority Affairs launched the short film contest ' Think Clean' on sanitation at the Doordarshan Kendra, Kudappanakkunnu.
The short film competition will be conducted under three categories – 5 minute inspirational videos, 2 minute videos that interestingly educate and empower ordinary people and 30 second commercials. Being a short film competition it is expected to create a lot of enthusiasm among media professionals. Celebrities from various fields like cinema, literature, theatre and also experts from related fields have formed part of the jury for evaluation.
Speaking on the occasion the minister said, “Every individual is responsible for the waste we generate and it is high time we change our attitude towards waste. This programme should set the spark in the minds of every individual and he/she should become the change agent inspiring the family, state and there by the nation. My waste is my responsibility, when all of us come together then Suchitwam is an automatic outcome.”
In her address Dr. K Vasuki, Executive Director, Suchitwa Mission pointed out, “We pioneered the sanitation and the drainage system to the rest of the world during the Harappan Civilization. Now that has become history, 'one time use and throw' culture has brought us to the current situation. We have to go back to our own roots and get our act together before it is too late.”

Mohanan, film director and former Chairman of Kerala Chalachitra Academy
and L P Chither Director - Drinking Water, Suchitwa Mission. The
function was attended by well known persons such as Dr. Ajaya Kumar
Varma, former Executive Director Suchitwa Mission, Sreebala K Menon,
writer and film director, contestants, officials from Suchitwa Mission
and Doordarshan Kendra.
