The brighter side

i was born right in the midst of trivandrum..my father's was in Central PWD and i have stayed in several cities of India...after his retirement we have moved back home...and i have fallen in love with tvpm all over again....agreed there are some minor glitches..but on the whole its still the best...be it availability of schools, good hospitals, beautiful roads, congestion free(relatively) traffic etc....for me trivandrum is the best..assume you are living in bangalore or mumbai, and you need to catch a train or flight... then almost half of your day is gone...in trivandrum you need to leave home/office just few minutes before...other cities(kochi, bangalore etc.) airports are moving away from the mainstream....here international terminal has come closer!...the weekends are even more lovable....you need beaches, hill stations, museum, zoo everything is near by...and the number of cinema theaters...and the cost of movie tickets....500 words are not enough for me to describe how much i love it here..all i can say is that it is the most beautiful city in india

Shhh! I have been feeling the same way, even though i don't belong to Kerala. Enjoy this while it lasts, because there are too may vested interest groups out to convert the city from a lovable overgrown village to a concrete-steel-glass MESS!

Agree with you on everything except the weekend bit. For teenagers and youngsters, TVM does not offer anything except bars. How many movies can you watch in a month/How many times would u go to the beach or hill station or museum?

Absolutely agree with the sentiments expressed by Vidya. I am a Trivandrumite and while I have lived in many cities in India, Trivandrum is still my favorite. I wish the general public will also realize the quiet beauty of this place and stop littering and turning it into a garbage heap. This wasn't the scene 20 years ago. It is the duty of us citizens to be the change that needs to be seen.

I have also lived across India and pan Kerala.I feel Trivandrum is better than all other cities and towns in Kerala. Here you get clean air, drinking water, clean surroundings(eventhough it got a bit unclean recently due to ineffective local and state governance). You get every thing within one KM reach. That too at a very reasonable price.Lesser house rent.City lacks Malls, but does have good shopping places like MG Road,Eastfort to Keasavadasapuram and juctions like Vellayambalam,Sasthamangalam,Kowdiar,.....You have a lot of places to hangout during weekends ---- 4beaches,4+ Backwaters,Hill Stations,Dams,Zoo,Dozen of Museum,Dozen good theatres,....
