Tvm Pettah Station
Tvm Pettah Station

Petth station is one of the oldest stations under Trivandrum Circle and it still remains the same with out any kind of repair. It is situated very close to the International Airport, Railway Hospital, General Hospital etc. Only a few express trains and passenger trains stop here. Many passengers will benefit if all trains ending journey at Central station stop here for a minute as they can just walk off the station without climbing foot over bridges. More over it will reduce congestion in Thmpanoor are as well. At Pettah, there are no express train towards Ernakulam side in the morning after Venad Express ( 05.05 A.M.). If either the Janashatapti or Parusuram express stops here for a minute , people in this area need not travel all the way to Thampanoor to catch the train. The only other train which is Madurai- Punlur passenger is invariably late and is of no use to those who want to travel beyond Kollam . Though Parasuram Express stops here on its return journey it never stops to pick passengers on its onward journey! The side roads leading to the station, near Kerala Kaumudi and the Railway Hospital has become a dumping place for garbage. From the Railway over bridge garbage is conveniently disposed off. Stray dogs have become permanent residents of the Railway station. The platforms and the steps leading to the station are all broken. The grass grows wildly on the platform and it is never swept and is littered with dog poop. While all other stations are repaired and maintained this one is left to rot. The Southern Railway General Manager even skipped inspection of this station during his last visit by taking a car ride from Veli to Central Station. Even though many Ministers and politicians get down at this station they never bothered to do some thing to improve the place. Even the Media people don’t write about it as there are vested interests plotting against the development of this station. Though there are enough space no renovations had been done and the leaking old tiled roofed building. In Platform No2 there are only two small shelters and passengers have to brave the rain and sun waiting for the train. Will our M.P Sashi Tharoor or MLA’s or councillors take a few minutes to visit the station and improve the conditions.

most of the trains that don’t have stop in Pettah , will be stopped in the outer of the Trivandrum Central for 2-5 minutes , till they get go-signal, had this time been compensated by allocating pettah as a stop for such trains , the passengers will save their precious time and also will decrease the rush in thampanoor. Another thing to take note of is the amount of housefly & mosquitoes... ..ufff they will really test Ur patience..

True and nicely said. This even reduces the congestion at thampanoor station because passengers who wants to move towards north kerala can get down at this place.Kerala needs to renovate the existing facility and then start constructing new ventures
